These terms govern your use of this website and set out the general basis on which CR Forensics provides its services. By using the website or submitting a claim, you accept them. Please read them alongside our privacy policy.
01About us
This website is operated by CR Forensics. You can contact us at customersupport@cr-forensics.com.
02Our services
CR Forensics provides cryptocurrency recovery and blockchain investigation services. Depending on the case, this may include tracing transactions on the blockchain, helping regain access to wallets locked by lost passwords or damaged hardware, investigating transfers to an incorrect address or funds affected by forks, tracing concealed cryptocurrency, drafting forensic reports, working with exchanges and law enforcement agencies, and giving expert witness testimony.
03Not a law firm
CR Forensics is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. Nothing on this website or said during a consultation is legal advice. Where a case needs legal action, you should instruct your own lawyer. Decisions to freeze, seize or return funds rest with the exchanges, authorities and courts involved, not with CR Forensics.
04No guarantee of recovery
We work to give you the best possible chance of recovery, but no outcome can be guaranteed. Whether funds can be traced, frozen or returned depends on factors outside our control, including how the funds were moved, where they ended up and how third parties respond. Nothing on this website is a promise of a particular result or timeframe.
05The mandate
Everything starts with a free consultation. Before we investigate further, you sign our mandate, agreeing to our terms and conditions. The mandate sets out the scope of the work and the fees, and it governs that work. If it conflicts with these terms, the mandate applies.
06Fees
- Consultation: free of charge.
- Upfront: no upfront money is charged for our service.
- Service fee: 30%, at the end of the procedure, calculated as set out in the mandate.
- Third-party fees: these may apply in difficult cases and fall onto the client's account.
The mandate sets out these fees in full before any work begins.
07Your obligations
When you use our website or services, you agree to:
- give information that is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge, and tell us promptly if it changes;
- share only information you are entitled to share;
- use our services and reports only for lawful purposes, and only seek to trace assets you have a lawful interest in; and
- not use this website to submit false claims, harass anyone, introduce malicious code or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems.
We may decline or stop work on a case where we have reason to believe the information is false or the purpose is unlawful.
08Confidentiality
We treat all claims and case information as confidential. We disclose it only as described in our privacy policy, with your consent, or where the law requires it.
09Reports and intellectual property
The content of this website, including text, illustrations and design, belongs to CR Forensics or its licensors. You may view and print it for personal use, but not copy, republish or use it commercially without our written permission.
CR Forensics retains copyright in its reports, methods and working papers. Subject to the mandate, you may use a report for the purpose of your case, including sharing it with your lawyers, the authorities, courts and the platforms involved. Any wider use requires our written consent.
10Limitation of liability
Information on this website is general and is not advice on any particular case. We take care to keep it accurate, but we do not warrant that it is complete or current.
To the extent the law allows, CR Forensics is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of this website or from reliance on its content, or for the acts or omissions of exchanges, authorities or other third parties. Our liability in a case is set out in the mandate.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11Recovery fraud and impersonation
People who have lost money are often targeted again by fake recovery services, sometimes using the name of a real firm. To protect yourself, remember that CR Forensics:
- charges no upfront money, and asks for no fees other than those set out in your signed mandate;
- will never ask you to pay to unlock, release or activate recovered funds; and
- will never ask for your seed phrase, private keys or wallet passwords by email, message or telephone. Where a wallet-access case needs such information, how it is handled is agreed in writing in the mandate first.
If someone contacts you claiming to represent CR Forensics, do not rely on the contact details they give you. Write to customersupport@cr-forensics.com to check before you share information or make a payment.
12Website use and availability
We aim to keep this website available and secure, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access and may change or withdraw any part of it without notice. Submitting a claim through the website does not by itself create a mandate.
13Links to other websites
This website may link to websites run by others. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, security or privacy practices.
14Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If any provision is found to be invalid, the rest remain in force.
15Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page, with the date shown at the top, applies from the date it is published. Changes do not affect a mandate already signed.
